Public Involvement

Stakeholder
A Stakeholder is anyone who is affected by the project and has a stake in its outcome. This includes but is not limited to residents, landowners, communities, businesses, advocates for policy, elected officials in whose jurisdiction the project is located, governmental regulatory agencies, and travelers who use the facility. The role of the stakeholders is to advise the Illinois Department of Transportation on issues related to the design throughout the entire study process and to help identify elements of the project purpose and need. All input from all participants in the process is valued and will be considered.

If you would like to be added to our contact list please send us an email through the Contact Us page.

Community Advisory Group
The Community Advisory Group (CAG) will provide input on the development of the Purpose and Need statement and the alternatives to be carried forward for evaluation in the Phase I Report. The CAG group consists of community leaders, agency representatives and community stakeholders with expertise or technical interest in the area affected by the study. The responsibilities of this group include providing input to the study process, and consensus at key project milestones (e.g., project purpose and need, range of alternatives to be advanced for detailed study, and the recommended alternative.)  This group will meet periodically throughout the study process.

If you would like to join the CAG please Contact Us though our web site or call Jessica Feliciano, IDOT Project Engineer at (847) 705-4096.

CSS
IDOT has designated this project as one that will utilize principals of Context Sensitive Solutions as part of a robust public involvement process.  Context Sensitive Solutions (CSS) is a collaborative approach to engaging as many stakeholders as possible, developing a project that will best fit into its surroundings, and using a flexible and creative approach to its planning and design.  Consideration will be given to addressing all modes of transportation and striving to preserve scenic, aesthetic, historic, and environmental resources while maintaining and enhancing safety and mobility.

The purpose of CSS is to gather and duly consider input on the project from all stakeholders in order to develop the best solutions to any problems or concerns identified.
